This strength workout can be a good starting point for those looking to start building some of the muscles you need for running! Strength workouts are as important as runs for runners looking to stay injury-free. This workout incorporates bodyweight and lightweight exercises that work the entire body. Take around 30 seconds of rest between each set and 2-3 minutes between each group of exercises.

For timing ab workouts longer than 30 seconds per exercise, I recommend using any interval timer app you can find in the app store. Play your music in the background on a different device with my video for the best experience!

If you’ve been doing the workout for awhile now and find it easy here are some ideas for making it harder:

  1. Increase the number of reps for each set.
  2. Increase the weight for the bicep curls or romanian deadlifts.
  3. Increase the amount of time for each exercise in the ab workout. For example, doing 40 seconds of the exercise and then 20 seconds of rest.

Just make sure you increase only a little bit each week, and keep the rest of your training load in mind.
